About Me

Mrs. Theresa Linus Ekon is a seasoned educationist, and astute school administrator, and currently serves as the Permanent Secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. She was appointed to the board on February 2010. Her academic career began in 1979 as a teacher with a number of secondary schools within Akwa Ibom State. She was made the vice Principal of Community Secondary School, Four Towns, Uyo from 1991 till 1994. She was then promoted to the rank of the Principal (Special Grade) in 1994, and served in this capacity for a number of schools, particularly the Holy Child Girls Secondary School, Ifuho, Ikot Ekpene, were she was known for her outstanding contributions. She later rose to become the Director of Education in the Akwa Ibom State Education Board in 2005. Mrs. Ekon obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Botany from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Education and a Masters of Science (M.Sc.) in Science Education from the University of Uyo. She is a devoted Christian, a leader, and has been noted for her humanitarian service that has touched the lives of several young people. She has been noted for her immense contribution to educational development in Akwa Ibom State, and is currently a UNESCO Justice of Peace..
